Anza-Borrego w/ Shawnte Salabert {Peaks and Professionals}


The Peaks and Professionals series returns! For this iteration of the series we have the honor of being joined by writer Shawnte Salabert on an overnight wildflower-chasing  and slot canyon ‘splorin excursion to Anza-Borrego State Park. Ever thought about hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT)? Well, Shawnte literally wrote the book on the PCT, Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail: Southern California, published by Mountaineers Books in 2017. PACKING LIST:

  • Sleeping bag

  • Sleeping pad (recommended)

  • Warm clothes for nighttime

  • Refillable water bottle

  • Mess kit and silverware

WE WILL PROVIDE:

  • Car snacks, Saturday lunch and dinner, Sunday breakfast and lunch!

  • Sleeping bags/pads if you need them (please let us know if you do!)

  • Tents

  • Good vibes

PEAK: Anza-Borrego State Park

Anza-Borrego is famous for its spring wildflower blooms following rainy winters, so we’ll be heading to the desert park at the right time!

DIFFICULTY: 2/5

SCENERY: Wildflowers of many colors and SoCal’s best slot canyons.

FUN FACT: Anza-Borrego is California’s largest state park.
