Join us for a trip into the beautiful Angeles National Forest with avid hiker and PhD student Rachel Newman! Together we will hike the 10 mile Inspiration Point loop while enjoying the amazing views of the San Gabriel Mountains.

PROFESSOR: RACHEL NEWMAN
DEPARTMENT: English
Professor Newman is in her third year of a PhD program in English Literature at USC and studies 19th century British novels. She also teaches Writing 150 classes to undergraduates and is starting her dissertation work. She enjoys hiking and horseback riding in the LA area, and spent last summer backpacking in the Eastern Sierras, culminating in a trip up Mount Whitney. Ask her about her hiking adventures, experience going to university in Canada, or passion for English Literature!

SCENERY: Admire the other peaks of the San Gabriel Mountains as well as wildflowers and the “world famous telescope view overlooking 3,000 square miles.”
FUN FACT: There are many different Inspiration Points in the Los Angeles area but this is arguably the most inspirational.
