Eaton Canyon Falls w/ Jill Sohm {Environmental Studies}

Get away from this blistering LA summer fall with a trip to the falls! Join Prof. Sohm and her family (including two adorable kids!) on a short 4 mile hike less than an hour north of campus. We'll hike in for about an hour, have a leisurely break at the falls, and hike back out to be back on campus by lunchtime!

PACKING LIST:

  • An extra pair of socks (in case we get wet)

FUN FACT: The century-old residence of Judge Eaton, whom the canyon is named after, has featured in many famous movies including Catch Me If You Can.

RATE MY PROFESSOR: "Professor Sohm is an amazing person. She is able to turn a topic that most would find boring, into something interesting and fun."

Professor Jill Sohm is a biological oceanographer, microbial ecologist, and director of the Dornsife ENST program all wrapped into one. Her research focuses on the competition for nutrients between microbial communities. She will answer everything you want to know about the nitrogen cycle, its effect on the growth of phytoplankton, and what it’s like to have been on more than ten oceanographic cruises!
