Join USC’s first vice provost for the arts and cross-cultural communication chair Josh Kun on a 3.7 mile hike with 692 feet of elevation gain, as we make our way to the falls! Enjoy the sounds of trickling streams and the canopy of oaks and alders as well as mountain views as we travel above the falls. You’ll get to talk about Professor Kun about all things arts, music, politics and cultural connection along with the endless projects, books, programs and more that he has spearheaded and contributed to.

Josh Kun is a professor and chair in cross-cultural communication at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism as well as USC’s first vice provost for the arts. He is the author and editor of various books and anthologies and a curator of numerous art, music and public humanities projects. His research and practice focus on the arts, music and politics of cultural connection, with an emphasis on archives, global migration and Los Angeles. Just a few examples of places he was worked with include The Getty Foundation, SFMONA, the Grammy Museum, the California African American Museum and The Vincent Price Museum of Art. From 2013-19, he led a trilogy of projects based on the special collections of the Los Angeles Public Library that resulted in a celebrated series of books, exhibitions and public programs. Join 2016 MacArthur Fellow to hear about his expertise on the intersection of arts, culture and politics, and maybe just ask about some of his favorite tunes!
