Calling all graduate-level women engineers! Join us for a quick collaboration with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Grad Student Affairs for a quick 2.8 mile trip on Old San Gabriel Canyon Road. Coming with us are not one, but two great engineering professors: Gale Lucas and Saty Raghavachary. Come to enjoy not only the great conversation but the view of the Azusa mountains and the San Gabriel River.

Gale Lucas is a research assistant professor at the University of Southern California in the Viterbi School of Engineering and works at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT). She completed her post-doc with Dr. Jon Gratch at ICT, and then stayed on at ICT as a senior research associate before becoming a research assistant professor. Her research focuses on rapport, disclosure, trust, persuasion, and negotiation with virtual agents and social robots.
Dr. Saty Raghavachary is an Associate Professor of CS Practice, where he teaches courses on computer graphics (CG), databases and introductory programming. From 2004-2014 he was a part-time lecturer in CS, during which time he taught graphics and animation courses. Saty has published two popular books on RenderMan, the CG industry’s leading rendering software. He is working on a third book, on Maya Python. Saty also gives talks to schools and colleges in the LA area (eg. Cal Lutheran, LMU, GCC) on animation production and CG.
