Come along on this quick hike near Griffith Park. We should see some beautiful views of the city, mountains, and the ocean. Speaking of the ocean, the professor joining us is Cameron Thrash, a professor in marine microbiology. Ask him about marine bacteria, waste-water treatment, and other microbes!

PROFESSOR: CAMERON THRASH

DEPARTMENT: MARINE AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY

Cameron Thrash is a professor in the Marine and Environmental Biology department in Dornsife. He investigates the relationships among and between aquatic microorganisms and their environment. In his lab, he combines high throughput culturing, physiology, and pure culture multi-omics techniques with cultivation-independent methods. He’s looking to understand why microorganisms occur where they do and what they are doing there!
