Mornings aren’t for everyone, especially on the weekend. Get ready for a peaceful Sunday afternoon with beautiful views on Canyonback Trail! This 3 mile hike will be the perfect way to end your weekend and rejuvenate for the week ahead. There is a light 450ft elevation gain, and we’ll be able to complete the hike in around 1.5 hours. If you procrastinated over the weekend, we’ll be back by 5pm with plenty of time for you to get to work, so consider joining us on this wonderful hike! Joining us will be Dr. Alison Trope, who has significant accomplishments in the field of communications, specifically concerning popular media and culture industries.

Professor Trope is a Clinical Professor of Communication at USC Annenberg and director of undergraduate studies. Not only is she the founder and director of the Critical Media Project, a web based media literacy resource focused on representation and identity, Dr. Trope also serves on the Board of the National Association of Media Literacy Educators and is faculty director of the Institute for Diversity and Empowerment at Annenberg. She is also the author of Stardust Monuments: The Saving and Selling of Hollywood, which explores the enduring efforts to memorialize and canonize the history and meaning of Hollywood. Dr. Trope received her PhD in Critical Studies from the School of Cinema-Television at the University of Southern California in 1999, and has taught courses in Annenberg in media and digital literacy, popular culture, visual culture, fashion, gender, and social change.
