[THIS HIKE IS RESERVED FOR EWB MEMBERS]
Are you in Engineers Without Borders? Are you into the outdoors? Do you want to see the sun set over the ocean? If you answered yes to at least one of these questions (ideally the first…) come hang out with us on the Ocean Overlook Loop Trail!
This is a super chill hike—2.6 miles, and we’ll end with a view of the Pacific. Bring your favorite snacks and an appetite for conversation with your fellow club members and faculty advisor.
USC’s Engineers Without Borders is the Viterbi School of Engineering’s only humanitarian organization and entirely student-run. All members of EWB-USA’s USC Chapter are volunteers who share a common vision of making a difference worldwide while enhancing their engineering education at the University of Southern California.

Dr. McCurry is an Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He completed his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a Chemistry minor at Stanford in 2016. Before enrolling at Stanford, he earned an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Yale, a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and even worked in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development. Professor McCurry’s research focuses on protecting public health by improving the long-term safety of engineered water sources. He applies the tools of organic and analytical chemistry to water quality challenges, particularly related to chemical and ultraviolet disinfection of wastewater and drinking water. Besides the cool research stuff, be sure to ask him about his trip to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone!
