Yosemite w/ Elisa Warford

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Starting Spring 2023, all non-driver trip participant spots will be selected at random due to high demand. Links will accept sign-ups until 12AM Sunday

Relax and unwind with us before finals at one of California’s most breathtaking parks! A beautiful weekend filled with waterfall hikes, giant sequoias, blossoming meadows, and towering mountains. We’ll hike up to the top of Vernal and Nevada falls, frolic through Cooks Meadow, take in the views of El Capitan and marvel at the towering sequoias.

PACKING LIST:

  • Sleeping bag + pad

  • H2O — ~2 full liters per person! hydration is cool

  • Mess kit (plate/bowl/utensils)

  • Hiking shoes & clothes

  • Layers! Lots of them! You can never have too many layers! Temps could be in the 30s!

  • Rain coat

  • Toothbrush & general life items

  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat

WE WILL PROVIDE: FOR OVERNIGHTS ETC

  • Sleeping bags/pads if you don’t have one already!

  • Tents

  • Friday dinner through Sunday lunch



PROFESSOR: Elisa Warford

DEPARTMENT: Engineering Writing

Professor Warford teaches courses in the ethics of science and technology and written and oral engineering communication. Her teaching and research interests include engineering ethics and the rhetoric of science and engineering. Not only is she an amazing professor, she is also an avid hiker and backpacker herself! She’s gone on lots of amazing trips that I’m sure she'd be happy to talk about!


PEAK: Yosemite: Vernal and Nevada Falls

DIFFICULTY: 3/5

SCENERY: 6 mile loop along the Mist Trail to two breathtaking waterfalls!

FUN FACT: President Lincoln signed a grant protecting this land in 1864, over 50 years before the national parks service was created!
