Join us for an afternoon hike in the glorious Red Rock Canyon Park! We’ll be exploring some small caves and hiking through giant red rock formations, all the way up to Calabasas Peak. Joining us will be surfing professor and SoCal nature expert Ian Culbertson for hours of ocean views.

PACKING LIST:

  • A LOT OF WATER (2L minimum, i’m not joking)

  • Good shoes

  • Snacks

  • Sunscreen

  • WAIVERS

Coach Culbertson has spent time all over coastal California, eventually finding his way to the USC Physical Education Department! He is an expert surfer and avid backpacker. If it’s outside, he’s probably done it! Expect to hear everything from learning about the longshore drift to stories of some of the gnarliest waves in Cali!

SCENERY: Some cool rocks and beautiful ocean views

FUN FACT: This area used to be owned by the Boy Scouts of America until 1923 and was known as Camp Slauson. One cabin, an outdoor amphitheater and water fountain are all that remain of the camp now.
