Gabrielino Trail w/ Nate Sloan {Musicology}

Join us for a wonderful hike through the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and the Angeles National Forest. Four miles with just under 300 ft of elevation gain, this should be a relatively chill hike, so anyone is more than welcome! Just be ready to tell some stories, cross some streams, and talk with everyone’s favorite Pop Musicology professor, Nate Sloan!

Nate Sloan is a musicologist and performer who researches everything from jazz to Tin Pan Alley to popular music. Sloan is the co-host of the podcast Switched on Pop with songwriter Charlie Harding, a podcast produced by Vox Media that has been cited by Rolling StoneThe Guardian, and Entertainment Weekly as a top music podcast. He also provides music analysis for The Economist, NPR, The AtlanticThe Boston Globe, and CBC Radio’s “Day 6.” Sloan’s vaudeville duo, The Gideon and Hubcap Show, has played at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and London’s Soho Theatre. He has also composed for theatre and film, including the score for the short documentary Slomo, and performs in the Dave Harrington Group. Nate Sloan also has professional experience as a consulting musicological expert in copyright litigation and clearance, including informal consultation, formal reports, and legal depositions.
