Who's ready for Catalina?! Between the breathtaking views, water adventure times, morning kayaking excursions, and a possible telescope rendez-vous, what's not to love? This adventure lead by our very own Environmental Studies Professor, David Ginsburg, will be one for the books!
PEAK: Catalina Island!
DIFFICULTY: 3/5
SCENERY: Our hikes will bring us breathtaking bird's eye views of Catalina Island, while our snorkeling and kayaking adventures will get us up close and personal with some of the island's fishier friends. Not to mention, if the sky is clear, we may get to do some stargazing with the Wrigley Institute's telescope!
FUN FACT:
Catalina Island is home to a herd of American Bison that are said to have been brought to the island in 1924 to film "The Vanishing American." Crazy thing is, there are no bison at all in that movie, nor does the scenery seem to be from Catalina...*shrugs*
PROFESSOR: David Ginsburg
DEPARTMENT: Environmental Studies
RATE MY PROFESSOR: "Paddles from Catalina to the mainland on a board using only his arms, so you know he's the realest."
After obtaining his Bachelor's in Biology from UC Santa Cruz and his Master's from the University of Guam, Dr. Ginsburg completed his Ph.D. right here at our very own USC. Dr. Ginsburg now not only teaches Environmental Studies courses, but also teaches Scuba Diving courses. Dr. Ginsburg also leads summer programs on Catalina Island and in the Bahamas, and cannot wait to show us around Catalina!
