Shaver Lake and Sequoia w/ Karin Huebner

Camping!!! In a national park!!! Just a short drive away!!! It’s gonna be a cold one (high of 54, low of 38) but worth the views and experiences!

We will be getting an ~exclusive~ tour from the US Forestry Ranger, get to see the SCE Museum of the Sierras and much much more! Thanks to Karin for letting Peaks tag along to this amazing experience!

PACKING LIST:

  • Hiking or tennis shoes

  • LAYERS: bring a warm jacket/coat, warm socks, and a warm hat, be prepared for some cold weather at higher elevations

  • Sleeping bag (rated 32ºF or lower) - We will provide if you don't have one

  • Sleeping pad - We will provide if you don't have one

  • Mess kit

  • Refillable water bottle (at least 1L, hydration is key)

  • Toothbrush, deodorant, and anything else to keep yourself fresh and pretty for your copious upcoming insta posts

WE WILL PROVIDE:

  • Puns and dad jokes

  • Tents

  • Food for camping days

Karin Huebner is the Academic Director of the Sidney Harman Academy for Polymathic Studies, which focuses on bringing together people of all disciplines for conversation and action. She also has a Ph.D. in history and specializes in Gender and Sexuality, Native American Studies, and the North American West. Before her career in academia, Dr. Huebner was a professional tennis player, competing on the Women's World Tennis Tour and in the US Open, French Open, and Wimbledon.
