Castro Crest via Backbone Trail w/ Kristan Leech {Biokinesiology}

Take a break from studying for your midterm and hike this reverse peak while talking to walking rehabilitation specialist Kristan Leech. Learn how the neuroscientist/physical therapist helps those with back(bone trail) injuries change their gait and relearn how to walk! We will start the day hiking down the trail then head back up totally about 10 miles while, enjoying panoramas, physiology focused pondering, and puns the whole way.

FUN FACT: this trail features an art installation/rock spiral masterpiece which has been kept up by hikers for years!

PROFESSOR: KRISTAN LEECH

Kristan Leech, doctor of both Neuroscience and Physical Therapy, is an assistant professor in the division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. Her lab focuses on motor learning and walking rehabilitation of those with central nervous system injuries. She uses a multifaceted approach of 3D motion capture data, biofeedback, and cognitive testing to create specialized treatments to improve the walk of patients. She truly talks the walk!
