The Terranea Discovery Trail is a very short and sweet hike lasting about 2.2 miles! Located near Rancho Palos Verdes, you’ll get a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean and beautiful wild flowers. The out-and-back trail offers a short beach where you can take a quick dip in the water.

FUN FACT: The word “Pacific” means peaceful. The Pacific Ocean got its name from the explorer Ferdinand Magellan. He called the ocean “mar pacific”, which meant peaceful sea.

Shelly Wattenbarger makes films, performs, sculpts and teaches under the alias Trixy Sweetvittles. Screenings of her animated films La Mujer Lagartija, Mermaids and Pickles, and Dream Lover Fondue include the Ann Arbor Film Festival, the Holland Animation Festival and the SXSW film festival. Her one-woman puppet show Pudinella Parsnip was showcased in the 1998 Jim Henson International Puppetry Festival. Her professional experience includes serving as animation director for Nickelodeon’s Blue’s Clues. She has over ten years experience teaching animation to K-12 students and working with non-profit youth arts organizations.
