CHECKLIST FOR TRIP PAGE:

Join us for a lovely Sunday in Ojai! We’ll start our morning by meeting up with beloved Peaks veteran Rev. Burklo from the Religion School at the trailhead, then hiking 8 miles through his home trails in the Los Padres National Forest. There will be some water holes to swim in, if you’re feeling the heat! After hiking, we’ll pop down to his house to enjoy a meal with his DONKEYS, before heading back to campus!!

PACKING LIST

  • Day Pack (hat/sunglasses recommended!)

  • H2O

  • WAIVERS

  • Sturdy shoes (hiking shoes are preferred but tennis shoes are fine too!)

Jim Burklo is the Senior Associate Dean of Religious and Spiritual Life at USC. ORSL is the interfaith center for the university, with 85 religious and spiritual student clubs. He is an adjunct instructor at the Keck School of Medicine, teaches non-credit classes for Mindful.USC.edu, leads a Christian Spiritual Practices group, and co-leads Belonging@USC, an initiative promoting friendship and community-building on campus. He is the author of seven published books and of a weekly blog called “musings”. He is an ordained progressive Christian pastor with a career spanning work with university students and homeless people. Jim and his wife Roberta live in Ojai, CA – and during the week he has an apartment near the main USC campus. He is a life-long hiker and lover of wilderness and has greatly enjoyed hiking with Peaks and Professors since its beginning.
