PROFESSOR: Gioia Polidori

DEPARTMENT: Human Biology

RATE MY PROFESSOR: "She wants her students to succeed and if you show interest and are engaged you will learn a lot. She is very down to earth and approachable. There is no such thing as a stupid question. My favorite professor at USC.”

Dr. Polidori received her Ph.D. in Stem Cell Biology from the University of Aberdeen, UK in 2012 after pursuing not one, but three Master’s of Science degrees in Medical Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics (in Rome!). After moving to the U.S., Dr. Polidori began her career at USC; in addition to being the Undergraduate Director of Human Biology, she teaches over eight different classes within the department including Human Anatomy, Genetics and Disease, Motor Learning and Control, and Evolutionary Medicine. Whether you want to learn more about how you can stay healthy from a true expert on all things health-related or hear some of her favorite pasta recipes, Dr. Polidori is a great professor to have along for our hike! (P.S. ask her about the time she found and kept a stray dog in her office in AHF.)

PEAK: Eaton Canyon

DIFFICULTY: 2/5

SCENERY: Creeks, lush (maybe a lil dry right now) canyons, a 40-ft waterfall??

FUN FACT: Eaton Canyon was once called “El Precipio” by Spanish settlers because of its steep gorges.
