Professor Blaine teaches in the Department of Gender and Sexuality Studies where she also serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies. She grew up in Pomona at the foot of Mt. Baldy, over which she ran wild as often as possible. Today the mountain still serves as a source of pleasure, wonder, and spiritual solace for her, and she looks forward to sharing this beautiful part of her world with students. When not in nature. Her research and publications examine gendered representations of death in media, including analysis of corpses in advertising, literature, news, films and television. For better or worse, she sees everything through the lens of mortality. Also check out her Maymesters for 2023!
