Join outer space expert Kenneth Phillips on this easy 1.2 mile loop around Mount Wilson Observatory. We will get to explore historic telescopes and see some amazing views while celebrating the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Andromeda Galaxy. After exploring the observatory, we’ll grab some lunch at Cosmic Cafe. This is a great trip for beginner hikers or for those who have an interest in outer space!

Dr. Kenneth Phillips is the Curator for Aerospace Science at the California Science Center (right next to USC in Exposition Park), and was responsible for the gift of the Endeavour Space Shuttle to the museum. At the Science Center, he develops hands-on exhibitions focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics within the general areas of aeronautics and space exploration. Dr. Phillips teaches a freshman seminar at USC: “The Space Shuttle and Our Place in the Universe.” He is extremely knowledgeable about the Universe and outer space, including what (or who) might be out there and how we travel to space!
