Join us for a proper Ojai retreat! Our trip will feature Professor Jim Burklo, USC’s dean of spirituality. We will meet at USC Village at 7:30 then make the 1.5 hour drive to Ojai. Once there, we will do our hike at Sisar Canyon, a moderately challenging hike with gorgeous views. After that, Professor Burklo has invited us around to his lovely Ojai home for snacks, a swim in his pool, and introductions to his two donkeys. Return back to campus may vary depending on how long the group chooses to stay.
PACKING LIST:

WAIVERS
Professor Burklo is one of the most genuine and friendly people you can meet. (He emails using at least three exclamations per sentence, what a treat!)
While at USC, he taught a course in Public Policy at School of Social Work, and a course in the Arts of Service at the USC Keck School of Medicine. For eight years, he served as the ecumenical Protestant minister for the United Campus Christian Ministry at Stanford University, where he supervised student projects, retreats, and internships related to spirituality and social justice.
While at Stanford University, Reverend Burklo served as the vice-chair of the Community Working Group-Opportunity Center, which built a $24 million housing complex for Palo Alto’s homeless residents. Reverend Burklo previously served as the Executive Director of the Urban Ministry of Palo Alto (now part of InnVision Shelter Network, Inc), an interfaith non-profit cooperation serving thousands of homeless people annually.
He is also an ordained United Church of Christ pastor and is the author of six published books on progressive christianity. Check out his personal blog, Musings!
