Ready to tackle Jospehine Peak with International Relations Professor Steven Lamy? Enjoy the hike in the deep San Gabriels as you ask Dr. Lamy for his famous career advice and begin to understand why he's won over 20 teaching awards. This is one professor you don't want to miss out on!


Peak: Josephine Peak

    Difficulty: This 8 mile hike has 1898 feet of elevation gain so difficulty level is moderate.

    Scenery: On clear days, you can see Big Tujuna Canyon and the LA Basin with great views.

    Fun Fact: You can even see Catalina Island on the clearest of days!


    Professor: Steven Lamy

    One of USC's most prominent faculty, Dr. Lamy has won over 20 teaching awards at USC, including professor of the year four times. His areas of expertise include international relations theory, foreign policy analysis, and the foreign policies of the Western nation-states, with over 40 published articles and books in those topics. Dr. Lamy is the founder of Teaching International Relations Program, which seeks to expose local children to the importance of International Relations. -- Outside the classroom, Dr. Lamy loves to hike and engage with students, fitting in perfectly with the principles of Peaks and Professors! He also frequently travels with students to exotic locales (Iceland anyone?) through Dornsife programs like Problems Without Passports.
