Mesa Peak w/ Gene Bickers

Mesa.jpg

Join us for a moderately difficult hike full of ocean overlooks and scintillating sandstone structures! We'll traverse up and down a ridge and explore some rock formations before stopping for lunch at Mesa peak. We'll return along the same route, and depending on time we might explore a rock labyrinth or go hunting for Jim Morrison's cave. During the whole trip, we'll have the opportunity to ask professor Bickers about his work teaching physics and researching condensed matter theory at USC.

Peak: Mesa Peak

Difficulty: 3

Scenery: Expect sweeping views over Malibu and the Pacific

Fun Fact: The trailhead of this hike is actually higher than the peak! But our endpoint will still have some of the best views in the Santa Monicas.

Ratemyprofessors: "Straight baller. Best professor at USC hands down, the man is a genius."

Professor Bickers studies condensed matter theory and the strongly correlated electrons in solids, so it's safe to say he's a smart guy. As part of his classes, he gives a demonstration where he walks across hot coals with bare feet, so it's also safe to say that he's a badass. He's also the only professor to ever give Hannah (your fab trip lead) a B, so he must be a cool enough dude that she invited him for a hike anyway.
