Join Peaks and Professors as we hike the Paseo Miramar Trail in Topanga State Park! This hike will offer scenic views of the SoCal chaparral landscape as well as stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. When we reach the top, we will practice some guided self-care by none other than Dr. Uyeshiro herself! If you’re looking to get some exercise, sunlight, and beautiful views, this trip is for you!

PROFESSOR: Ashley Uyeshiro Simon
DEPARTMENT: Occupational Therapy
Dr. Ashley Uyeshiro Simon is one of the most well-respected faculty in USC’s Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. She currently teaches classes such as OT 101 Caring For Yourself and OT 100 THRIVE: Foundations for Wellbeing, a course she founded. Ashley is passionate about self-care and promoting well-being and mental health among undergraduates. She’s ecstatic to hike with Peaks!
PEAK: Paseo Miramar Trail
DIFFICULTY: 3/5
SCENERY: This 4.9 mile out-and-back trail offers beautiful views of both Topanga State Park and the Pacific Ocean! With a steady incline and virtually no shade, this trail is perfect for those who want to get a good workout and catch some UV rays.
FUN FACT: Topanga State Park is not only the largest park in the Santa Monica Mountains, but it is also considered the largest park located in the limits of a city.
