Death Valley w/ Andrew Chater {English - Bookpacking}

Come visit the lowest point in North America before hitting rock bottom in Leavey this midterm season!!

We’ll be camping at Trona Pinnacles Friday night and spending Saturday and Sunday in Death Valley - lots of desert romping, chill car camping, good snacking. Game plan is to depart Friday afternoon to reach the Trona Pinnacles in the evening and camping there for the night feat. beautiful stars and pointy, ominous rocks (sp00ky). The next morning, we'll head to Death Valley to visit the visitor's center for that good good merch and then explore the park for the rest of the weekend. Items on the itinerary include Artist’s Palette, Badwater Basin, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes (da doooooons at sunset), a moderate hike along Dante’s Ridge and/or a moderate hike through Mosaic Canyon, plus more - but hey we’re ~ fleXibLe ~ too. We should return to campus around 5 or 6 on Sunday.

PACKING LIST:

  • Sleeping bag + pad

  • H2O - at least 2 wattterrrrr bottles, it’s going to be spicy out

  • Mess kit

  • Hiking shoes & clothes - ya know?

  • Toothbrush & general life items

  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat

WE WILL PROVIDE:

  • Loaner gear for anyone who doesn’t have a sleeping bag, etc.

  • Meals & snaxx (Friday dinner - Sunday breakfast)

  • At least one (1) weird playlist that Delaney wants to be 75% Taylor Swift and Weezy wants to be 100% 80s hard rock, countless bad jokes, and our services as your Instagram husbands for the weekend

PEAK: Death Valley & Trona Pinnacles

DIFFICULTY: 3/5

SCENERY: Hotter than hell. (But probably not during the weekend we’re going.) Sand dunes and rocks and deserts, oh my!

FUN FACT: Death Valley is the largest national park south of Alaska (about the size of Connecticut)!

We’ll be seeing where some of the Tatooine scenes in A New Hope and Return of the Jedi were filmed in Death Valley!!!!!
