PROFESSOR: Diana York Blaine

DEPARTMENT: Gender & Sexuality Studies

RATE MY PROFESSOR: “I adored being in Professor Blaine's class! She had very passionate and fun lectures and she seems like a very authentically wonderful person in general. The class is very thorough in covering all aspects of feminism, you will absolutely learn a lot about both your own identity and the identities of others.”

Professor Blaine teaches in the Department of Gender and Sexuality Studies where she also serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies. She grew up in Pomona at the foot of Mt. Baldy, over which she ran wild as often as possible. Today, the mountain still serves as a source of pleasure, wonder, and spiritual solace for her, and she looks forward to sharing this beautiful part of her world with students. When not in nature. Her research and publications examine gendered representations of death in media, including analysis of corpses in advertising, literature, news, films and television. For better or worse, she sees everything through the lens of mortality.

PEAK: Cedar Glen Camp Trail

DIFFICULTY: 3/5

SCENERY: Flowing streams and pretty mountains :)

FUN FACT: According to Google: “Locals have affectionately called it Mount Baldy (or sometimes Old Baldy) because of its barren treeless summit.”
