Grasslands! Water crossings! Rock pools! We’ll meander through the rolling green hills of Malibu on this hike to Century Lake (with so much greenery after so much rain)! Guaranteed good vibes and good times with Professor Kessler and maybe a sneak peak at some film sites!

PROFESSOR: Sarah Kessler

Sarah Kessler is a media scholar, television critic, and assistant professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of Southern California. Her articles and essays have been published in The Brooklyn RailCamera ObscuraFilm QuarterlyTriple Canopy and elsewhere. She is currently working on two books: a popular account of TV binge-watching and an academic monograph on vocal politics at the turn of the twenty-first century. She edits the Public Books TV section. She loves cats, whales, and science fiction!


PEAK: Malibu Creek State Park

DIFFICULTY: 2/5

SCENERY: A mostly flat hike with some ultra scenic mountain views, a lot of water, and wildlife.

FUN FACT: Malibu Creek State Park has been host to many film sets, including MA.S.H. and Planet of the Apes!
