Join Lily and Professor Alexandra Brewer for a 4.6-mile hike in the Angeles National Forest. We’ll hike through the forest: crossing streaming, petting moss, observing lichen, and enjoying the sun. After climbing down a rope, we’ll arrive at a beautiful waterfall! If you so choose, you can take a dip in the water :)

H2O (pls bring at least a liter, dehydration is not fun!)

Alex Brewer is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Southern California. Her research interests include medical sociology, organizations, work, professions, stratification, economic sociology, qualitative methodologies, and social theory. Across several projects, she investigates the reproduction of social inequalities in the U.S. healthcare system, focusing primarily on the everyday practices of healthcare workers.
Her work has been published in the American Sociological Review and Social Science & Medicine and has won awards from the American Sociological Association and the Society for the Study of Social Problems. Most recently, my dissertation received honorable mention for the Roberta G. Simmons Outstanding Dissertation Award from the ASA’s Medical Sociology Section.
Prior to joining the USC of Sociology, she earned her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
