Trail Canyon Falls is a 30 foot waterfall located in the Angeles National Forest. It is not frequently trafficked and less than an hour from campus making it a nice getaway from the city. It is about 4.3 miles roundtrip with 743 feet of elevation gain. It has a few river crossings, mainly across logs, culminating to a 2 out of 5 in difficulty. Hopefully the waterfall will be active because of the recent rain. The canyon itself is beautiful and we will get a peak of Mount Mckinley on our way to the falls.
Peak: Trail Canyon Falls
Difficulty: 2
Scenery: Nestled in a Big Tujunda Canyon with steep walls on all sides and distant peaks in the background, Trail Canyon Falls is an impressive sight, especially in the days following a storm. Along the way we will see some cabins that date back to the 1920s.
Fun Fact: Trail Canyon refers to the trail of gold flakes seen swirling down the the creek at the bottom of the canyon. In the early 1900s, miners attempted to find riches here but were unsuccessful.
