SCENERY: With lush green surroundings (if the universe cooperates) we will be able to see Brentwood and also Downtown Los Angeles.  

FUN FACT: San Vicente Mountain was used as a Nike missile defense site during the cold war to detect and intersect Russian missiles directed at Los Angeles.

Join Annenberg Communications Professor Allison Trope for a majestic 7.4 mile hike from Westridge to the San Vicente Mountains in the Santa Monica Mountains.

Allison Trope recently wrote a book entitled Stardust Monuments: The Saving and Selling of Hollywood (Dartmouth, 2012), which explores the enduring efforts to memorialize and canonize the history and meaning Hollywood takes on in our everyday lives. Ask her about this and more on the hike!
